Exfoliation

At Anti-Aging Clinic, we offer a variety of exfoliation facial treatments to help you achieve and maintain healthy, youthful skin.

Microdermabrasion is a popular choice for those looking to reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and sun damage. Chemical peels use a variety of acids to deeply exfoliate the skin, resulting in a radiant complexion. For those seeking a more gentle option, our AlumierMD Glow Peels use fruit acids to provide a mild exfoliation that leaves the skin feeling smooth and refreshed.

No matter what your specific skincare needs may be, we have an exfoliation treatment that can help you achieve the beautiful, glowing skin you desire.

Microdermabrasion

The science of skin rejuvenation is evolving at The Anti-Aging Clinic Toronto. Our microdermabrasion systems have the polishing action of diamond chips and the cleaning action of a vacuum.

We use a resurfacing technique, gently exfoliating the skin with natural diamond chips, to remove the topmost layer of skin, which leaves it supple and vibrant.

  • What is Microdermabrasion?

Microdermabrasion treatment is the solution that provides more vibrant, radiant-looking skin, by removing dead cells, impurities, debris, and environmental pollution, helping smooth out skin texture. Microdermabrasion helps build collagen, which gives skin its youthful appearance. The treatments also make it easier for skin care products to penetrate into the deeper layers of the skin.

  • How does it work?

Our microdermabrasion treatment systems have the polishing action of diamond chips and the cleaning action of a vacuum. To remove the dead cells from the topmost layer of skin, we use a resurfacing technique that gently exfoliates the skin with natural diamond chips. This leaves skin feeling supple and vibrant. We then vacuum up the dead skin cells in a sterile, controlled manner. Removing the outer layer of dead skin cells results in a smoother texture and promotes growth of healthy new skin cells.

  • Which areas can be treated with Microdermabrasion?

Almost every area of your body can be rejuvenated, including the face, neck, shoulders, chest, back and limbs. Our microdermabrasion systems have the polishing action of diamond chips and the cleaning action of a vacuum.

  • Who is a good candidate?

Microdermabrasion treatments are safe for most skin types. However, you should avoid microdermabrasion treatment if you have any of the following:

    • Extremely sensitive skin
    • Diabetes
    • Vascular conditions, like severe rosacea
    • Skin inflammation
    • Bacterial infections such as active acne
    • Lack of tactile sensation
    • Cuts and abrasions
    • Botox or fillers (within seven days)

  • What sort of follow-up care is needed after Microdermabrasion?

Since your skin might be a little sensitive after the procedure, it is important to avoid heat such as sun exposure, exercise, and saunas; as well as chemicals found in swimming pools and some home care products for the first few days after your treatment; and apply sunscreen for the first 48 hours after treatment. You may be required to follow-up after the treatment based on the doctor’s preference and most importantly, the depth of your skin’s peel.

Chemical Peel

Our Chemical Peels are designed to even pigmentation and skin tone while chemically removing dead skin cells, debris and impurities.

A chemical peel is like giving your face a fresh start. With a professional treatment, a series of chemical peels may slightly reduce the appearances of blemishes like acne scars, wrinkles, or large pores while also evening pigmentation and tone as the skin is exfoliated.

  • How does it work?

Chemical facial peels make use of glycolic acid, a type of alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) known for its exfoliating properties. When applied, AHA accomplishes two important goals. The first is that it will loosen the ‘anchors’ that hold dead skin cells in place, allowing them to simply peel off. The second is that AHA binds water into the underlying skin.

Not only is your face getting fresh, smooth skin exposed, but it’s being hydrated and infused with a healthy glow to boot.

  • What are the pre-treatment protocols of a Chemical Peel?

Make sure to cleanse and moisturizing your skin twice a day and apply sunscreen to your skin before heading outside. Many doctors recommend using medically grade products such as AlumierMD or Riversol, as pre-treatment to chemical peels. They are said to help reduce the negative effects of skin aging and rejuvenate the appearance of the skin. However, you should stop retinols and vitamin C serums at least 5 days prior to your peel treatment.

  • Are Chemical Peels safe?

Some people feel a natural hesitancy at the idea of using chemicals to exfoliate their skin, but chemical peels are rooted in very normal processes.  Your body is shedding dead skin cells every day, but in small amounts that aren’t normally noticeable. You are probably shedding some right now. What a chemical peel does is replicate this process on a more uniform scale, causing the same effects but in a way that allows you to feel and experience its effects to maximum potential.

Chemical Peels are safe up to 30% glycolic acid, which is our limit as medical estheticians. Dermatologist can go higher than 30%. At our clinic, if there would be the need of a stronger chemical peel, we would recommend the carbon laser peel, which is the equivalent of 4 chemical peels, with no downtime and very low to no risk.

  • How many treatments will I need?

It takes around 3-6 treatments to start noticing results, depending on your skin type and the conditions meant to be addressed. Each chemical peel takes roughly 30 minutes, which is why it is sometimes referred to as a “lunchtime peel”. Pop in on a few lunch breaks a month and you will get your younger, beautiful skin in no time.

Our Glow Peel

Our Glow Peels are a medically grade peel, designed to improve the signs of aging and hyperpigmentation with less downtime. This multipurpose resurfacing treatment combines the powers of salicylic acid, lactic acid, resorcinol, soy amino acids, and yeast-derived oligopeptide.

We typically suggest this treatment to people who want to address issues like hyperpigmentation, fine lines, exfoliation, and overall rejuvenation and are non-candidates for the Carbon Laser Spectra Peel.

  • What is an AlumierMD Glow Peel?

The AlumierMD Glow Peel combines lactic acid, salicylic acid and resorcinol to create a multipurpose resurfacing solution, effective in minimising the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and hyperpigmentation issues. This skin peel reduces age spots, discolouration and uneven skin tone.

  • How often can I get a treatment?

We recommended a series of at least 3 treatments, one month apart. So, if you have a big event like a wedding coming up, start the peel course 12 weeks before the big day.

  • What happens after an AlumierMD Peel?

AlumierMD skin treatments result in minimal to no downtime but create dramatic and visible results. Treatments can cause slight redness, tightness, peeling, flaking or temporary dryness. Most patients do not find it necessary to apply makeup, as the skin with be smooth, dewy and radiant following your treatment. We recommend that foundation makeup should be avoided at least 48 hours following the peel.

  • How long do results last?

Many people can see a significant improvement in the appearance of their skin tone and texture in as little as one peel treatment. This is because of the peel exfoliating function which can dramatically improve the superficial quality of your skin.

Light peels are the most common type of cosmetic chemical peel treatment, but they also have the most variation in terms of results. A light peel generally lasts for about 1 to 2 months at a time when you first start using the treatment. Over time, the results of a light peel can last up to 6 months.
